A dual fuel conversion is a retrofit technology that allows an engine to run on two fuels, typically diesel and natural gas. This can be an economical way to upgrade a system without buying a new generator. Dual fuel conversion can also help reduce emissions with low conversion cost.
The advantage of a dual-fuel kit is that it can help use both Diesel and natural gas (PNG/ CNG or LPG) in generators, so adding to the security of energy supply. Dual Fuel Kit comprises special components that can be fitted on existing diesel engines, allowing the two fuels to function in tandem.
In dual fuel, natural gas is introduced into the engine’s intake system. A dual fuel engine can operate on 100 percent diesel fuel or the substitution mixture of diesel and natural gas (Dual Fuel), delivering the same power density, torque curve and transient response as the base diesel engine. Even after converting to a Dual Fuel operation, the engine can continue to operate with diesel as the primary fuel.
